There are two types of people in the world. The first type cares only about themselves, while the second one always makes an effort to help others. What path would you pick?

Since childhood, Barack Obama developed the habit of reading. His mother had a huge impact on this. She encouraged her son to read more books and retell them to her. Barack spent his three years of college exploring new literature, articles, and scientific journals.

When Obama was 22, he realized how large a gap between his dreams and reality was. He had big aspirations. At the same time, he was a shy and vulnerable boy with lots of fears and a bit of laziness. However, Baraсk couldn’t leave it like that. He understood that to achieve all his dreams, he had to change himself and his habits. So, the young man started with the basic things – workouts, plans for every day, and healthy nutrition.

After graduating in 1983, he directed his ambitions and energy toward community organization. His first achievement was a position in Chicago. He was responsible for cooperating with a group of churches and maintaining the community’s well-being.

This was a turning point in Obama’s life. For the first time, his main task was to help others and care for their needs. Of course, this period was also full of frustrations and rejections, but it gave him his first experience of working in the community. Nevertheless, he didn’t spend much time in community organizing – this field of work was too small and slow for him. He still wanted to serve others but in a much bigger scope.

The first African American elected as the mayor of Chicago, Harold Washington, was the biggest inspiration for Baraсk. It was the first time he felt that everything he wanted to achieve was possible. Such enthusiasm led him to a position in the Illinois State Senate, which he held from 1996 to 2004.
