Homegoing

Brief Summary

In this debut historical fiction novel, Yaa Gyasi addresses the issues of colonization and slavery. She tells the stories of two half-sisters in 18th-century Ghana and their ancestors. Effia and Esi grew up in different places and conditions and know nothing about each other. One of them becomes the wife of a British official, the other one — a slave.
