In today's evolving business landscape, reacting to the inevitability of change is crucial. To succeed in the long run, companies need to be able to pivot in response to the world speeding up.
One company that has demonstrated exceptional adaptability is Netflix. When the company started in 1997, it provided a DVD-by-mail rental service. As the streaming technology improved and became more available, Netflix recognized that it needed to completely change its strategy to remain relevant. In 2007, it launched its streaming service. By 2013, it had over 33 million subscribers.
Yet, Netflix didn't stop there. The company continued to adapt to changing consumer preferences, like the rise of mobile devices. In 2011, it launched its first mobile app; today, over 70% of Netflix's streams come from mobile devices. This example illustrates what a company needs for success. Of course, an outstanding reputation is vital, however, seeking for development is a real game changer.
Another example of adaptability in the business world is Amazon. The modest bookstore has grown into a powerful retailer. Now it offers everything from electronics to food. Its most impressive adaptation has been in the realm of logistics. In 2005, Amazon launched Amazon Prime. It offered free two-day shipping for millions of items. Consumer expectations shifted. Amazon recognized that it needed to do even better. In 2014, it launched Prime Now, which offers free two-hour delivery for tens of thousands of items.
When companies adapt to changing conditions, they stay relevant and ahead of the competition. It helps them survive and thrive in a changing business environment.
