Women, just like men, have leadership potential. They want to realize their ambitions and skills, too. The statistics prove that women receive 60 percent of master’s degrees and 57 percent of undergraduate degrees in the United States. If we take Europe, 82 percent of women have a university degree compared to 77 percent of men.

However, a new problem arises here – the number of female employees holding high and managerial positions is not increasing. How so? To a greater extent because of stereotypes about management positions and women. For instance, a leader must be decisive and responsible. These traits are usually attributed to men, not women. If a man has many ambitions and stops at nothing to achieve his goals, everyone admires him. However, a woman is considered too domineering and rigid if she does the same.

These stereotypes have been imposed on us since childhood. Parents encourage girls to be gentle and sweet and boys, on the contrary, to be bossy and responsible. These stereotypes are a severe issue in modern society, putting a lot of pressure on women. For example, a man can and should simultaneously be a successful businessman and a good family man. Conversely, women often confront the notion that professional and personal successes are incompatible. You are either a good mother and wife or a careerist. There’s no third option.

How can we fight this? Women should get rid of their fears. After all, it is fear that stops women from realizing their potential and happiness. Usually, women have a fear of making the wrong decision. Fear that society will not approve of this choice. Fear of failure in the eyes of others. It's time to leave those fears behind.
