Many people feel deeply unhappy, but they cannot understand why. Everything seems to be fine: they have a home, a job, and so on. However, perhaps it is self development that they lack.

How to become your best self

This is the way human beings are: internally we want the best all the time. Many factors, such as our fixed mindset, can hinder us. To learn how to develop your stoicism and how to become your best self, check out our tips.

Let go of your fixed mindset

Chances are you all have conservative relatives who refuse to change anything in life just because of old habits. The reason for this is their fixed mindset. And worst of all, you can fall victim to it too. Many people think that their task is predetermined in advance. Having received something like a good job or a small cozy apartment, these people assume that they have reached the pinnacle of their ambitions. As a result, such people do not develop, forever remaining on the first steps of their unfulfilled development. However, if they change their fixed mindset to a growth mindset, everything will change. Learn more about this in our summary of the book Mindset: The new psychology of success.

Fight your fear

Fear can be your main opponent when it comes to self-development. It can suffocate you in such a way that you feel as if you cannot do it. But you can. Just learn how to respond to your fear in the right way. To begin with, you can start writing out your fears. Written down on paper, they won't seem so awful anymore. Now read through your text and determine how you can combat them. Also, you might want to keep track of your physical reactions to fear. By seeing and realizing them, you will come to see that it is much easier to get rid of them. View your fears as a springboard that you can jump over and move on.

Develop your stoicism for better resilience

The teachings of the Stoics are quite a broad topic (you can fully explore it in the book summary of The Daily Stoic, but the essence of it is this: life is impermanent, and therefore you must learn not to bend under its blows. This mindset will help you analyze yourself and develop your strength of mind. Meditation can help you: with its help, you will be able to immerse yourself in your mind, not allowing information garbage to pollute your brain, and therefore you will be better able to think better about the realization of your self-growth goals.

Search your true self and your motivation

You can't get very far if you are not motivated. This simple yet very complex thing becomes the cause of an existential crisis for many people. On the one hand, you should just follow your hobbies and interests. On the other hand, what about people who don't fully understand who they are? Well, they are faced with a daunting task where they have to analyze their weaknesses and strengths, outline their values, choose a couple of hobbies, and then.... try. If you feel like exploring this further, you may take a look at the book called The Greatness Mindset.

Keep in mind that perfection does not exist, which means that you will be in the process of endless development all your life. But that's not a bad thing. The most important thing for you is to get rid of your fixed mindset. Get out of your shell and start taking action now. First, you have to believe in yourself and accept your flaws and mistakes. Second, learn to treat fear as just another obstacle that you will definitely get through. Develop stoicism by increasing your resilience. In the end, go in search of your motivation that can guide you through the worst times of your adventure.
