Identifying your values can help you inspire others and enhance your ability to get the most out of life. While conducting research, sociologists were surprised by the difference in answers of two non-Jewish people groups that were affected by the Holocaust. Some were helping to rescue Jews (rescuers), and others were not (non-rescuers).

Sociologists determined that parental discipline was the key factor. Those people whose parents not only applied rules to their children but also explained the importance of following set rules were the ones to rescue the Jews. It can be explained by rescuers knowing the values behind those rules.

To unlock your inner potential and thrive, you ought to develop four main capacities. Those are mental, intellectual, physical, and emotional. Challenging yourself to build these capacities, you can use different exercises to help you, either fitting them into your morning routine or throughout the day.

The first exercise is called “One last talk,” and it focuses on having a 20-minute talk on anything you like or enjoy. The twist is that you imagine that those will be your last words before passing away. Try to think of the things you want to pass down before you go. In the second exercise, you have to question whether you need to change your life according to your dream achievements, which is called “Legacy.” It brings you to talk honestly about things you’ll leave behind in decades or even hundreds of years.

Focusing on mental abilities, you should try to identify what's important to you and set it as your values or find your genuine motive. That’s how big companies function, living those values out all through their lives.
