Procrastination is an experience everyone has had. Ranging from the same type of tasks in educational institutions to job-related documentation, these are the cases where procrastination increases. What's interesting is that this problem can be seen in particular situations. Usually, we encounter it in certain projects, not routine duties and needs. We will hardly give up a delicious dinner or postpone going to a club with friends. Writing a thesis or report is the most likely task on our to-do list to fall under procrastination. We often hear that voice saying, "We still have a whole day to do it."
If we pay attention to the businesses we procrastinate, we can divide them into three types. First, the tasks we want to do to impress others and meet everyone's expectations. Next, the things we find boring to do. In other words, the process does not bring positive emotions, and there is no motivation to do them.
Finally, the tasks that leave us unconfident in our abilities, wondering what goal to set for ourselves. We are afraid of failure, especially after plunging headlong into it. These are the tasks that force us to make a choice. So, what can we do?
We can take a risk and start working. Still, we might face disappointment with the process in the end. Besides, we might let other people down as well as ourselves.
The second option is to forget that such a task exists and move on. Just pretend that nothing has happened. This way, we do not feel uncertainty and fear of failure.
For better or worse, the second scenario is more common. As soon as we realize that negative emotions will not be part of the day's task, procrastination takes the ground. In this way, temporarily or permanently, we get rid of a particular irritant in our lives.
