We all know about royal family members and seem to forget that they are also humans like us. Prince Harry was brave enough to tell his own story, revealing his arduous journey in an honest manner. Childhood, relationships with family, mother’s death, and scandalous marriage – all this came to be written down in this book.

There was a rumor that on the day of Harry’s birth, his father, Prince Charles, said to Diana, “Wonderful! There’s an Heir and a Spare now.” The Heir firstborn of their family – William, and the Spare – Harry.
Prince Charles' remarks were probably just a bad joke, although Harry was frequently called this way. As his grandparents and other family members would quickly point out, he was only a fallback for his elder brother. Harry embraced his role from a very young age, knowing exactly what being the second meant. Such a simple thing as a flight showed how different the rules were for him and William. The older brother and father would never take the same plane, only in case there’s a crash. The royalty couldn’t lose the first and second man in line to the throne. But the Spare? Well, he lived by different rules.
Harry said he never took any offense at his family. He accepted his role back in childhood, but as he grew older, his perspective on life changed. Reflecting on his relatives and identity, he came to see how crazy his life had been. Take the relationship with his father. Prince Charles and Prince Harry's relationship was not of a typical father and son. Why? Because Charles acted more like his son's manager or provider financially. This continued until Harry ended his reign in royalty.
It may seem like Harry didn’t have normal loving moments between him and his family. But it’s not like that at all. Growing up, he had moments when his father would comfort him, like the one time when he was afraid of the dark, and Charles sat beside his bed. Trying to keep Harry from feeling scared, he would tickle his face. He also remembers his father always calling him his “darling boy.”
