What perhaps limits us the most is the untold rules we live by. We might not even realize it, but as we grow up, everyone around us dictates how we should live. Your environment’s beliefs build a different reality in your head, and that reality is often not objective at all.

For example, if everyone in your family grew up poor and never succeeded in landing a high-paying job, you might see this way of life as the only option. You are surrounded by people who convince you, on purpose or not, that living above the poverty line is an unachievable goal. Now, you subconsciously believe that even a middle-class life with a decent job is impossible for you as well.

That belief is very dangerous because your subconscious views are a basis for your future. The good thing is you can always change them. We’ve already established that your mind may be the main thing holding you back. However, you are not alone here. There is a different, bigger power watching over you. That is the Universe itself. You can also call it The Force or the Motherlode. Either way, it is there, and it’s rooting for you. That means the universe will hear you if you know what you want.

It might sound too good to be true if you do not believe in that sort of thing. “If the Universe is rooting for me, why do I have bad days?” you might say. Even when you feel like the world is against you, you shouldn’t give up because the good days will always follow. In other words, our faith should have more power over us than our fear, no matter the circumstances.

For example, if you asked for a higher salary early in your career and received a rude refusal, you will now fear asking for a promotion. Bonus points if it happened multiple times or your boss threatened to fire you. So, you will now feel safer working a stable job with a low salary.

That overbearing desire for safety will keep you from taking any risk with what you fear. Think of it as a kind of sleep state – like a Big Snooze. The Big Snooze does keep you safe at all times, but it also limits your possibilities. The good news is that you can free yourself from the Big Snooze and get out of this sleep state. How does one do that, you ask? Well, it starts with self-love.
