What does it mean to be a leader? First of all, to help things and people become better. The role of a leader is vital, and no team will work without one. Fortunately or unfortunately, changes are inevitable – the appearance of new competitors, the instability of legislation, pressure from high-ranking officials, changes in the structure, pandemics, etc. This is not even half of the list! You cannot influence most of these processes, but you can always control the relationships within the team.

You have to invest in these relationships, leadership, and communication. It is essential and affects the team’s productivity and efficiency. Relationships always have two sides. A high level of trust and a good attitude pave the way to a mutually beneficial partnership, high results, and joint achievements. And also, which is much more important, good relationships within the team will positively affect your colleagues' morale.

The best solution for any leader is to be honest and informed. For example, explaining the task, planning the algorithm of actions, and setting a deadline are necessary before starting work. It provides each team member with information on what is required of them, in what form they should do it, and when to finish. The approach depends entirely on the goal. If you intend to increase the salary in the company, you will have to choose where to start – by informing about the current salary range or by working on implementing this strategy.

As a leader, you won't always have time to make your every move transparent, but you don't have to. It is enough for the leader to choose and present the most critical information to other participants in the work process. It is necessary to give concise operational feedback to the team on the progress of the work while remaining competent and empathetic.

Leaders are likely to keep work processes secret and not share their experiences and ideas. In this case, they have to make a greater effort to blend into the team using shared jokes and news from their personal lives. It is worth it, though. Only creating this kind of connection can unite your team and make cooperation more productive.

In fact, the opposite situation can happen – when the leader broadcasts too much personal information to the team and does not understand that some things should be kept to themselves. In this case, the leader should focus on listening to colleagues and not on their statement. Being more empathetic and paying attention to the state of team members can be of great usage too. In order to understand the efficiency, working conditions, and morale of a person, it is worth asking them questions. This will allow colleagues to express their opinions and offer ideas more boldly.

You can become a better leader if you establish deep contact with group members and achieve complete understanding. Another good solution is to separate the presentation of good and bad information and alternate encouragement with constructive criticism.
